Takeaway restaurant website design built around the order, not a template

Takeaway restaurant website design earns its keep when the menu is easy to scan on a phone and the path from craving to checkout is as short as possible, rather than a stock template with your logo dropped on top.

Who this is for

Is this page describing your kitchen?

This page is for an owner whose takeaway already works at the counter and on the phone, and whose website is the weakest of the three channels. Usually there is a site of some kind, built years ago or given away with a delivery app account, and everyone in the shop knows it is out of date. You are not looking for art. You are looking for a site where a hungry person can read the menu, believe the delivery time and place an order without calling.

The signs

Four things that mean it is time

  • Customers still call to ask what is on the menu, because the site does not really answer it.
  • The menu on the site is a PDF, an image, or a list that has not matched the counter since last year.
  • You cannot tell anyone what your site looks like on a phone, because you never open it on one.
  • A new item takes so long to get online that you stop bothering between seasons.

Design decisions that follow how orders actually get placed

The layout choices on a takeaway site should follow how someone decides what to order: a homepage that leads with the menu and the fastest way to order, category structure that matches how your kitchen groups dishes, and a checkout placed where someone actually decides to buy rather than buried behind three clicks. We design around the order first and pick colors and type second.

A visual system, not a one-off homepage

Every design decision, spacing, card treatment, button style, is documented as a system so a new combo, a seasonal item or a second location looks like it belongs on day one and on day two hundred. That consistency is what lets us turn a revision around in days: we are extending an existing system, not redesigning from scratch each time.

Mobile first, because that is where the craving happens

Most takeaway orders start on a phone, often while someone is already hungry and comparing options. The design is built mobile first: the menu loads instantly, the order button is reachable within one thumb-scroll, and nothing requires a pinch-to-zoom to read a price.

What is included

What you actually get, line by line

All of it inside the monthly plan. Nothing below is quoted separately or billed by the hour.

  • A homepage that leads with the menu and the fastest way to order, not a photo carousel
  • Menu pages grouped the way your kitchen groups dishes, with modifiers and combo pricing visible
  • An ordering flow on your own domain, connected to how you actually fire tickets
  • Delivery zone and pickup window pages that state the real rules before checkout
  • A design system, type, spacing, cards and buttons, so future pages match without a redesign
  • Light and dark both handled, because half your customers browse in bed

What lands in the build

  • A full design system

Type scale, spacing, cards, buttons and section patterns documented so every future page matches.

  • Mobile-first layouts

Every page designed and tested at phone width first, then scaled up.

  • Your brand colors, applied consistently

One accent color and one radius system carried across every page, light and dark.

  • A menu structure built for scanning

Categories, combos and modifiers laid out the way your kitchen actually organizes them.

  • A checkout placed where it converts

Positioned and worded around how your actual customers decide to order.

  • Ongoing design revisions

New pages and sections keep matching the original system, turned around in days.

What is not included

The things we will not pretend to do

  • Food photography. We use what you have and lay pages out so a dish without a photo still sells.
  • Menu writing. You tell us the dishes, prices and modifiers; we structure them.
  • Delivery driver dispatch or a point-of-sale system. We connect to what you run, we do not replace it.

If one of these is the thing you actually need, say so on the call. We would rather point you somewhere else than sell you a plan that does not fit.

What drives the work

The price is fixed. This is what changes the effort

You pay the plan price whatever your kitchen looks like. These are the things that decide how much of the first two weeks we spend on structure, and they are worth thinking about before the onboarding call.

  • How many locations need their own page, hours and delivery zone
  • How complex the modifiers are: split toppings and combination plates take longer than a fixed list
  • Whether your menu exists as structured text or as a photograph of a laminated card

Plans start at $117 a month with a $647 one-time build fee invoiced only after launch. See all three plans.

How the work is done

Four steps, and what you do at each one

  1. 1

    Onboarding form and one call

About fifteen minutes of form, then a call where we fill the gaps and agree the launch date. The launch clock starts at the call, not at purchase.

  2. 2

    Structure before decoration

Menu sections, modifiers, zones, locations and the ordering path are agreed first, because that is what the design has to serve.

  3. 3

    Build and review

Every page custom coded and checked against the 90+ PageSpeed target on mobile and desktop. You see it and say what is wrong before anyone else does.

  4. 4

    Launch, then the weekly work

Live in 7 days on Order Starter. After that: articles, revisions and technical checks every week, and the build fee invoiced only once you have approved the site.

From a kitchen like yours

One operator, one specific change

  • People following up on takeaway ordering used to complete the entire inquiry form again. The follow-up route asks for a reference and the question itself, nothing more. Customers are spared a thoroughly unnecessary second introduction.

Guarantees

The promises that are actually in the contract

Every line below is in the terms and conditions, not just on this page. If a claim only exists in marketing copy, it is not a guarantee.

  • 90+ PageSpeed, in writing

We guarantee a Google PageSpeed score of 90+ on mobile and desktop for pages we build and host. If a page falls below it because of our work, we fix it at no charge.

  • Local rankings inside 3 to 5 months

The terms commit to your site starting to rank for local searches in your area within 3 to 5 months of launch. If it has not, we continue the search work at no additional charge until it does.

  • The build fee is invoiced after you approve the site

The $647 one-time build fee is not taken at signup. It is invoiced once your site is live and you have said you are happy with it, which is why it is not refundable afterwards.

  • No hourly billing, ever

5 revisions a month are included and a revision has no size limit. After the fifth, each is a flat $20. Everything is completed within 2 to 5 working days.

  • The domain and your content stay yours

Your domain is registered in your name, and if you leave you tell us where to send it and we transfer it at no charge. On cancellation we provide an export of your content and articles within 14 days.

  • Cancel with 2 business days notice

By email, before your next invoice date. No lock-in period, no exit fee, no clause that keeps billing you for a site you asked us to stop.

The limits are stated too: neither guarantee covers changes you or a third party make, content published against our advice, or rankings for terms outside your area. Neither entitles you to a refund. The remedy is the corrective work, done at our cost.

Questions about takeaway restaurant website design

Do you design around our existing branding?

Yes, if you have colors and a logo already in use, we build the site design around them. If you do not, we develop a simple palette and wordmark as part of the build.

How many design revisions are included?

Five a month on every plan, with no limit on how much goes into a single revision request. After that, extra revisions are a flat fee with no hourly billing.

Will the design work for a large menu with lots of combos?

Yes. We structure the menu into clear sections and combination groups so a large menu stays navigable instead of turning into one long unreadable list.

Can you match a look we already like from another site?

We can take direction from references you like, but the final design is built specifically around your menu, colors and delivery area rather than copied from another business.

How long does a takeaway site take to design and launch?

7 days on Order Starter, counted from the onboarding call rather than from purchase, 10 days with the AI Engine and 15 with the Content Engine. The clock starts when we have your menu and your answers.

Do you design around our existing sign and packaging?

Yes, and it usually makes the site stronger. Bring the colours, the wordmark, the packaging and the menu board photography and we build the site so it looks like the same business people already visit.

What happens to our old website?

It stays live until you approve the new one. Then we point your domain and redirect the old page addresses so anything printed, bookmarked or linked keeps working.

Can we see the design before it goes live?

Yes. You approve the site before launch, and the build fee is invoiced only after that approval, which is the whole reason it is charged at the end rather than up front.

A live walk-through of the site you would get, in about 30 minutes. Plans from $117 a month, the $647 build fee invoiced only after launch, domain and hosting included.
